WOOD BURNERS... THE ECO WAY?
There is a lot of talk about wood burning stoves in the media and it is not always easy to get a true idea of how they may affect you and the environment.
ARE WOOD BURNING STOVES BEING BANNED?
NO!
There are currently no plans in the UK to ban domestic burning including log burners and multi fuel stoves. Ninety percent of all stoves are A or A+ making them more efficient than most appliances in the average home.
IS WOOD BURNING BEING BANNED?
NO!
Wood is a renewable source of energy and carbon neutral - which makes it a great source of heat.
I LIVE IN A SMOKE CONTROL AREA. CAN I BURN LOGS?
YES!
All you need is a DEFRA approved stove and you can burn in a smoke control area.
ARE STOVES BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?
NO!
Since 2022, all stoves must be Ecodesign compliant. This means a reduction in particulate emissions of 90% over an open fire and 80% over older stoves making today’s burners cleaner and more efficient than ever before. Tests have shown that using an air fryer, burning candles or cooking a full English breakfast produce periods of greater emissions! Many people may be surprised by the answers to these questions, but it shows modern wood burning stoves represent a great choice when considering how to heat your home.
